19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one victories at 21 various events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on court had led commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
