Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
