Zohran Mamdani Pledges a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in Maiden Address
On his first day in his new role, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reinvent” New York City, declaring “a different age” and an ambitious start to his term.
A Historic Leader
The 34-year-old political star, who was a virtually unknown state assemblyman, is the city's first mayor born in Africa. He also made history by being the inaugural to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.

Mamdani now undertakes one of the most unrelenting jobs in American politics, with a plan promising:

- A halt to rent increases for about 1 million households
